Set in a 15th-century building, we keep things relaxed and welcoming, serving up hearty food in a proper country pub setting. In the colder months you’ll find us with the fire going, and when the weather’s good our beer garden is the perfect place to sit back and enjoy it.
Whether you’re popping in for a drink or staying for a meal, we aim to keep things easy, friendly and comfortable. We’ve also got free WiFi if you need it.

A Pub at the Heart of Village Life
Dating back to the 14th century, the Rose & Crown has been welcoming locals and travellers for centuries. From its famous appearance in the 1930s Lads of the Village films to generations of skittles, stories and Dorset hospitality, the pub remains a true village local steeped in character and tradition.

Lovely, cosy pub. The staff are all friendly and attentive, the food is delicious and the pub has a great atmosphere. The beer garden is spacious and a great spot in the summer. Would definitely recommend visiting ❤️

This used to be my local a few years ago but haven't eaten at the Rose & Crown since I left the village in 2019.
I visited this Sunday for a roast dinner with a group of friends and I have to say that we were not disappointed!
The food was superb and excellent value. The staff were all cheerful and helpful and the locals as friendly as I remember them.
5 stars... we will definitely be back.

Recent visited the rose and crown for a Sunday carvery, and I can honestly say it was one of the best carvery’s I’ve ever eaten. Food was absolutely amazing, and the restaurant and bar staff were incredibly friendly, made me feel so welcome, and we were well looked after. Definitely coming back soon 👍🏻

We are on holiday and staying locally, we walked down here late this afternoon.
We were the first customers in the pub, and we were made to feel welcome by everyone that came in, we stayed for longer than we had planned, as we felt comfortable, and enjoyed the company
Ashley is amazing, and works very hard at making sure everyone has everything they have ordered/need.. great customer service.
They serve really nice pints, and we had a lovely evening with the locals, we felt it was just like being at home.
We have booked a gf and mf meal in a few days time on the Saturday, with music bingo to follow, I'm really looking forward to it as it sounds fun. I'll update the review after the event.
Me and hubby both commented to each other that these were the cleanest toilets we have used over this holiday ☺️.
